Process Principles for methanol steam reforming

With a certain proportion of methanol and water mixture, superheated stream, under certain conditions of temperature and pressure, have an reaction and carbon monoxide shift reaction through catalyst, finally generate the mixed gas of hydrogen and carbon dioxide.

Methanol conversion reaction is a complex reaction system with multi component and multi reaction.

Total reaction:

CH3OH+H2O Û CO2+3H2-49.5kJ/mol

After the heat transfer, condensation and separation, the reaction mixed gas has the content of 74% hydrogen, 24.5% CO2 and 0.5% CO. The methanol one-way conversion rate is more than 95%. Unreacted raw materials (methanol, desalted water) returns to the feed system for reuse. The transformed gas is to be sent to pressure swing adsorption unit for separation and purification and obtain a high purity product hydrogen gas.
